Dr. Gortler regularly attends educational lectures at her alma mater and the annual American Association of Endodontics meetings to stay informed about the latest scientific research and techniques.
Dr. Gortler is committed to providing her patients with precision in her technique and gentle hands. She finds satisfaction in doing root canals to help alleviate her patient’s pain. She also loves working with new patients and explaining to them how to avoid root canals in the future.
Outside of the office
In her free time, Dr. Gortler enjoys raising her three children. She loves pilates and yoga, spending time outdoors, cooking and baking, and is committed to a healthy lifestyle.
Practice Areas
ENDODONTICS
The interior of a tooth — its pulp, nerves, and surrounding tissue — is where some of the most significant dental problems originate, and treating those problems takes a level of precision and training that goes beyond general dentistry. Dr. Gortler completed her specialty in Endodontics and Dentofacial Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania, and she stays current through ongoing education at her alma mater and the annual American Association of Endodontics meetings.
ROOT CANAL THERAPY
Root canals have a reputation that far outpaces the reality of the procedure. For Dr. Gortler, providing root canal therapy to relieve a patient’s pain is one of the most rewarding parts of her work. Using precise technique and a gentle approach, she focuses on making the experience as comfortable as possible — and takes the time to explain to each patient how to protect their teeth and avoid needing treatment again in the future.
ENDODONTIC RETREATMENT
When a previous root canal hasn’t fully resolved the problem, retreatment may be necessary to address persistent infection or incomplete healing. Dr. Gortler is trained to evaluate and re-treat teeth that have not responded as expected, working carefully to preserve the natural tooth whenever possible rather than moving toward extraction.
TOOTH PRESERVATION
Keeping a natural tooth is almost always the preferred outcome, and endodontic care is often what makes that possible. Dr. Gortler completed a General Practice Residency at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, giving her a broad clinical foundation that informs how she approaches complex cases — always with an eye toward preserving function, alleviating discomfort, and helping patients maintain their natural smile for as long as possible.
